The domaine Saint-Roch is located in the small commune of Meusnes (Loir et Cher – 41)
Its vineyard,
perfectly situated on the slopes overlooking the village has the distinctive
feature
of growing on a unique type of soil called : “ gunflint “ . At the
end of the 18 the winegrowers
took advantage of this natural abundance of
light flint to develop an industry, with
“ the flint for weapons ” the
resulting stone being used to produce.
Among other things they were used during the Napoleonic campaigns.
If the gunflint
industry has long since disappeared, the vineyard for its part has
flourished on t
his soil which gives the wines a character both original and
unique.
